Teocalli Cultural Academy

About Us

Teocalli was started in January of 1995 when a group of former Anáhuac Fresno City College dancers followed the invitation of their former instructor, Julio Bustos, to continue their folklórico studies in a more professional venue. Since its beginning, Teocalli has been dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Mexico’s culture through its music and dance.

In its 21 years of existence, Teocalli has developed a reputation for being one of the most active folklórico groups in the San Joaquín Valley. Teocalli has been selected three times as a participant in the prestigious San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival. It has hosted the Danzantes Unidos Festival several times. It has also hosted more than a half dozen traveling groups from Mexico. It is a pivotal member of Arte-Américas’ Danzantes del Valle.

In 2010 Teocalli expanded into Teocalli Cultural Academy and started to offer classes in Mariachi music, Latin Conntemporary, and other dance disciplines such as Flamenco, Zumba, Hip Hop and Bellydance.
